Re: Geting 500 - Internal server error.
Hi bonafied,
I'm sorry you're having trouble with this.
Can I just check on the basics first:
1 - have you created a folder in your root web directory called "geoip"?
2 - have you downloaded the GeoCityLite database from Maxmind.com, uncompressed it, then put it into this folder?
After that, I would be looking for the server log files to find the error log, and see more information about the particular error that's going on. Generally a "500" error has some more information available.
It's actually a bit strange to get a 500 error in this sort of case. Generally there are warnings or errors about PHP, or missing/corrupt files etc, and not 500 errors. That's why a log file wouldl be most useful.
Hope that helps to find the error,
Stephen
Re: Geting 500 - Internal server error.
The post size is only going to relate to POST requests - and you're not doing any of those if you're simply using the GeoCityLite database.
1 - can you tell me the size in bytes of the uncompressed GeoCityLite.dat file, as it appears on your site? You may need to use a FTP client. This is just to see if it got truncated at any point. I'll compare it to mine.
2 - please keep looking for the webserver error log file, to see if that has any more info. Are you using apache or IIS?
Cheers,
Stephen
