Last rule
Hi Stephen,
I've just finished setting up the rules I need.
It all seem to work as it should.
Basically I've set different templated to different pages or categories.
Now I'm left with one question at the end:
The LAST rule, I'm not sure if there's any significance if I close it's FAIL action
with 'stop processing' or with 'process next rule in chain'.
All other requests for pages that are not in the rules should fall to the default template,
and they DO, whether I'm choosing 'stop processing' or 'process next rule', because anyway I
chose in the fail action 'set template' to ignore.
So the rules work as I want them to, but I just wanted to know if there is any significance
whether I choose 'stop processing' or 'process next rule' for the fail action, considering it's
the last rule in the chin.
I mean, I don't know if not choosing 'stop processing' means that the chain continues in a loop,
or if there are any consequences, such as process time, for choosing either options for the last rule,
because I can't see any difference when choosing either way.
Please let me know,
Thanks!
Re: Last rule
Hi dilaro,
Thanks for your question. In practical terms there's no difference either way. If a rule is the last rule, then "process next rule in chain" just falls off the end. There won't be any looping, as you found out.
If you explicitly "stop processing", then this saves a few processor cycles, but not many (about 5 lines of very simple php code).
Best regards,
Stephen
