Using MetaMod with bespoke component
Is it possible to use MetaMod in combination with a bespoke component? We have a website for which we had bespoke component built (similar to Virtuemart's Shopper Groups) and I would like to know if it's possible to use MetaMod with this without any code alteration?
Many thanks
Re: Using MetaMod with bespoke component
Hi Porius,
Yes, it should be possible to do this. MetaMod is extremely flexible - and that's one of the benefits of making the rules in PHP.
Of course, making the PHP rules is going to be up to you or your programmers.
If you just want to detect different "pages" according to different parts of the URL, you might have good success with turning on MetaMod's "Advanced Debug" mode, then looking at the PHP rules that are generated as you look at each page.
On the other hand, you mentioned "groups" which are likely to be database-based. So you're likely to have to do some database lookups based on the identity of the current user ($user->id). Check out the "Recipes" section on this site, and find some of them that do database lookups to find out how to do it.
If you're not a/the programmer yourself you'll probably find this a big challenge. See if your programmers can help you. If not, I'm for hire for small jobs like this.
Hope that helps,
Stephen
