Conflict with Artisteer template

Conflict with Artisteer template

Hi there!

When I want to control the main top (main) menu in an Artisteer template with MetaMod, the following notice appears above the menu: "Notice: Undefined index: name in C:\Program Files\wamp\www\test\templates\berkiporta\html\mod_mainmenu\default.php on line 115"
On the top of this, the menu does not show as it should be, just simple text without buttons, etc
If I choose another template (Joomla default for example), the problem disappears.
If MetaMod is off, the menu shows perfectly.
The "C:\Program Files\wamp\www\test\templates\berkiporta\html\mod_mainmenu\default.php on line 115" in my case contains this: if ($attribs['name'] == 'user3') {

So the conflict seems to be between the Artisteer template module position (user3) and MetaMod.
Actually I saw the same problem on other forums but without any solution.

Joomla: 1.5.14
Artisteer: 2.0
MetaMod: 1.5L

I appreciate any kind of help. THX

Re: Conflict with Artisteer template

Hi Cino,

ah, that's very interesting. Could you possibly send me a copy of the template for me to have a look at? I've never seen an Artisteer template close-up before...

At the very least, the "override" file you reference above would be useful (berkiporta\html\mod_mainmenu\default.php).

Thanks,
Stephen

Re: Conflict with Artisteer template

Hi again,

I have looked into this and I can see what the problem is.

If you want to get a quick and painless solution then MetaMod Pro will prevent this problem from occurring.

Meanwhile I am working on MetaMod 2.0 which will also get around this problem. It should be ready in the next couple of weeks, all going well.

Could you possibly send me a copy of an Artisteer template, even a very basic one will do, so that I can test this out and make sure that it works properly?

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi Stephen!

Thank you for the prompt support. Great!
I'll of course send you both files, but please let me know you email address.
THX again.

Re: Conflict with Artisteer template

Hi,

I just wanted to confirm the situation with Artisteer templates, since someone sent me a template to test with.

  • The problem occurs with MetaMod 1.5L and previous versions
  • The problem does not occur if you are using the currently released version of MetaMod Pro (1.0.3)
  • It happens when you put a MetaMod into the user3 position, and use it to include any standard "menu" module
  • A warning message is generated (if you have your Joomla installation set up to show errors), and the menu displays as a vertical list on a clear background rather than a horizontal bar on a coloured background (colours depend on your exact template styling, obviously)
  • The problem is fixed in MetaMod 2.0 (not yet released), even without MetaMod Pro.
  • In MetaMod 2.0 and above, if you are not using MetaMod Pro, then you should set the MetaMod "Style for Included Modules" to "Naked - no div, no title". The CSS that this combination generates looks like it's identical to when the menu is placed directly into the user3 position without MetaMod - therefore it all looks like it should.

I'll repost here once MetaMod 2.0 is in public Beta.
