Alternative Geo DB Format
It seems as though Maxmind have stopped offering the "legacy" databases now and are offering their GeoLite2 databases in different formats. How can I go about using metamod with this new databases
https://dev.maxmind.com/geoip/geoip2/geolite2/
Thanks
Re: Alternative Geo DB Format
Hi,
A new version of MetaModPro is about to be released, that can use the GeoLite2 databases. I've just had it in user testing and it's all working fine and ready for the public. You'll be able to download it from this site in the next few days.
Best regards
Stephen
Re: Alternative Geo DB Format
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I assume that this has now been rolled out? I've purchased and install the metamod pro plugin but my module is still looking for a geoip.dat file. Can you provide a bit of guidance as to how I can use one of the new maxmind databases?
Thanks.
Sam
Re: Alternative Geo DB Format
Hi Sam - yes, it has been rolled out.
You need to download the new style MMDB file from here:
http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geo … ty.mmdb.gz
then unzip it and place it into a folder at the root of your web space called "geoip"
Then in MetaMod, indicate that you are using the GeoLite2 country database, using the dropdown.
That should work!
Stephen
