Hide or show individual menu item based on geoip location

Have installed Metamod the geoip.dat from MetaMind. Trying to understand if its possible to hide or show an individual menu item based on the geoip. Is this possible and how is it done?

For example I have a main menu item 'SHOP' (url link) that takes to user to my on-line store. I only want this menu item to show in countries that the shop servers.

Hi hiretech,

Because MetaMod deals directly with modules, it does not typically allow you to hide/show particular menu items.
However, if the menu you want to alter is being displayed by a module (as opposed to something built in to the template), then there is a way that MetaMod can help.

At https://www.metamodpro.com/software/elastimenu you can find ElastiMenu which is a drop-in alternative to the standard Joomla menu module. It has an important enhancement: it can allow you to specify certain menu items that you don't want to display.

Therefore, you can create 2 ElastiMenus: one that has all items showing, and one that will hide a certain menu item. Then, use MetaMod to display either one or the other based on GeoIP.

Does your site use standard Joomla menu modules?
If not, you can achieve the same result using Chameleon, which is able to hide Menu Items even in menus not displayed in Menu Modules (e.g. by the template).
