Using Metamod to create redirect when Joomla redirect won't work
Using Metamod to create redirect when Joomla redirect won't work
Dear Metamod Developers & Community,
I created a custom registration page. The URL is:
http://www.mysite.com/registration
But when users are already logged in and click "register now" or at other random times, they're redirected to the URL:
http://www.mysite.com/registration/profile
I want them to be redirected to the URL:
http://www.mysite.com/profile
However, if I try to use the Joomla redirect plugin, it won't work. Users are still redirected to /registration/profile.
IS it possible to use Metamod in this kind of situation to redirect logged in users to the URL of my choosing?
I'm using:
Joomla 3.6.5
PHP 5.6.27
K2 2.7.0
Social Factory 3.5.7
Thank you!
Kind regards,
Scott Oman

Re: Using Metamod to create redirect when Joomla redirect won't work
Hi Stephen,
No, actually it's no longer a problem. I should have updated this thread. Sorry about that.
I developed a workaround by creating a couple additional modules and publishing some for public and the others only for registered users, so that when the user is registered and logged into the site they no longer see the links mentioned above, and therefore aren't redirected to the wrong pages.
Thanks very much for your willingness to help though.
Kind regards,
Scott
Re: Using Metamod to create redirect when Joomla redirect won't work
Hi Stephen,
I hope it is ok to continue this one...
I have a link in an article for 'login to forum', once you login you get directed to the forum. My problem is, if you are already logged in it takes you to the same page with the option to 'log out'. Is it possible for Metamod to redirect logged in users to forum page?
Thank you
Kind regards
Lene
Re: Using Metamod to create redirect when Joomla redirect won't work
lt635, why can't you do the exact same thing I did?
Create a new, duplicate module.
1st module only appears to guests
2nd module only appears to logged in users
links you provide within your module, content, etc. (or don't) are different for both modules 1 and 2
therefore the "log out" link you mentioned won't appear in that position anymore
problem solved
Re: Using Metamod to create redirect when Joomla redirect won't work
Hi Scott,
Thanks for your reply. I am not using the module, it is a menu link to the component user login. The forum is only available after login and the link that my client wants is in an article. It works great if you are not logged in but if you go to the document and you are logged in it takes you to the login page with the 'log out' button.
Kind regards
Lene
Re: Using Metamod to create redirect when Joomla redirect won't work
Hard to guess as I'm not familiar with your setup but perhaps the same thing would work by creating two menus?
the menu link in the 2nd menu does not include the link mentioned, etc.
therefore the "log out" link never appears in that position when logged in
