Re: turn articles on and of in specific time

Hi Vindy,

thanks for getting in touch.

First let's look at what you actually want to do: you say you want to turn articles on and off. In practice this could mean:

a - remove a menu item that is a link to that item
b - make an error page or redirect to an alternative page when someone FOLLOWS a link to that article (so you don't remove the links, you just prevent the article from showing)
c - remove all links from the page that point to the article
d - a combination of all of the above

Which is it that you want to do? Can you describe your setup a little more and explain what you want to achieve?
The Chameleon product available on this site is probably best suited to this, rather than MetaMod, but it depends on what you want to achieve.

Thanks,
Stephen

Re: turn articles on and of in specific time

I need to replace some articles with another ones twice per day. I think the best way to do this is to put them on the same place make Article1 on  and Article2 off at 11 pm and Article1 off  and Article2 on at 11 am. That's why removing links etc is redundant.

Re: turn articles on and of in specific time

Ok, that's good to know. For this I'd suggest the following approach:

1 - put the content of your articles into 2x HTML Modules instead of into articles. Assign them to "menu items: none"
2 - create a single article and link to it from the menu so you have a menu item.
3 - in the article, use a {loadposition mymoduleposition} marker.
4 - create a MetaMod and assign it to position "mymoduleposition"
5 - in the MetaMod, use the following PHP:

if ($core_genius->inTimeSpan("11:00 - 23:00")) return XXX;
else return YYY;
// replace XXX and YYY with the module ids of your 2 content modules
// as appropriate. XXX with the 11am-11pm one, and YYY with the
// 11pm-11am one.
