Virtual URLS based on category

Hi

I''ve used Chameleon for template switching with great success. 

Now I am seeing if it is possible to use Chameleon for the following issue:

I have am planing to build a single joomla website for a college that has three departments.

I would like to have the following sef urls all within the one joomla site installation. (I know I can have 4 different joomla installations, build in 4 folders, but ideally I would like it to be one Joomla installation.)

http://www.nameofcollege/department_number_One
http://www.nameofcollege/department_number_Two
http://www.nameofcollege/department_number_Three

Within the Joomla structure I would have root categories such as:
Categories:
department_number_One
department_number_Two
department_number_Three

Within the above Categories there would be articles for each department (I would also have subcategories, of course, but only the initial category would be "turned into" the virtual url "subfolder".    (Yes, I know I can use Chameleon to switch the templates, but can it also create the virtual urls I want based on the  root categories?

Hi Rowby,

Joomla can't create those URLs for you - you need to do that with Joomla's built-in SEF or a 3rd party SEF extension.

Why can't you just create a menu (not necessarily the main menu) and create 3 category pages with the required SEF URLs?

Don't forget you can also create menu items that are "aliases" to other menu items, so if your main site has /departments/dept1 etc then you can also make a URL that's /dept1 that is an alias to the longer one.
