Adding user to joomla user group

Adding user to joomla user group

Hi stephen

I am using hikashop and akeeba subscription. Hikashop uses the joomla acl groups to allow different price settings. When a user buys a subscription they are added to a joomla user group. However when a subscription expires the akeeba-joomla user sync plugin runs and removes the user from the user group. The user is not assigned to any group. Would it be possible to detect when the plugin runs and removes a user that if the user has not been assigned to any groups that chameleon would add user to the registered group.

Thanks Patrick

Re: Adding user to joomla user group

Hi Patrick,

unfortunately Chameleon is unable to add people to particular groups, whether on-the-fly or permanently. You could use Chameleon as a container to hold PHP code to do that however, if you could find PHP code to do 2 things:

1 - to detect if the user is not part of any groups (put that in the main PHP box in a Chameleon rule)
2 - to add a particular user to a particular group. You could put that in the PHP box in the Succeed action.

I'm sorry I don't have code for either of those things, but you might be able to get some help for that on the Joomla forums or stackexchange.

Sorry I can't help more than that, but I hope it might help.
