Hide image slider on Virtuemart

I am trying trying to hide slider on virtuemart's product detail page. I have tried the following piece of code :
$vm = JomGenius("virtuemart");
if ( $vm->check( "pagetype = frontpage" ) ) return 144;

I am not getting anything even if I turn debugging ON. I also tried this :
$vm = JomGenius("virtuemart");
echo "pagetype is " . $vm->info("pagetype") . "<br>";

But got nothing. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.
