Rules for Joomshopping?

Rules for Joomshopping?

Chameleon has rules for Hikashop, Virtuemart and K2, what about Joomshopping?

I am building a site with Joomshopping and want to use a different template for the product details page but I cant seem to get it to work. I used Chameleon in the past to set up a template for article pages and I didnt need to add any php codes. Is there a way I can do this for joomshopping product detail page? Any help/Ideas would be appreciated .

Re: Rules for Joomshopping?

Hi Salvage,

Sorry, there's currently no support for JoomShopping page types in Chameleon. You're the first person to ask for it.

For most components, detecting page types can be done with some simple PHP code, and I'd suggest doing that in the first instance. A good way to find this code is actually to use MetaMod. If you create a MetaMod module and assign it to ALL pages, and turn on MetaMod's "advanced debug" mode, then the MetaMod spits out some PHP code for every page you view, that's based on the URL parameters for that page. This is *extremely* valuable for designing PHP code that can be used either in MetaMod or in Chameleon.

The main difference is that in Chameleon the PHP code just returns true or false instead of returning a module id (which it does in MetaMod).

So in Chameleon you might have something like:

if ($Itemid == 93 and $id == 15 and JRequest::getVar("page") == "category" and $option == "com_joomshopping") return true;

(that's a completely made up example as I don't know JoomShopping at all, but I hope you get the idea).

Can I suggest that you install MetaMod as described above, then visit the product details page? Then paste the output from MetaMod into a forum reply here and I can advise on any changes that might need to be made.

It might be a good idea to actually do that for several different types of pages so that you can see the difference between the URL parameters for each one.

Best regards,
Stephen

Re: Rules for Joomshopping?

Hello Stephen, I waited for a while and I didnt see any responses and then I totally forgot about this thread(I dont get notifications).
I actually did the simple page-type(Article/categories) detection and created the different pages like that. However, I became dissatisfied with Joomshopping and totally discarded it for the K2store (Sister to J2Store) .  smile  .

Right now new challenges have come up :  If there is a way Chameleon can help to assign different CSS files to different K2 categories? Hope its alright to ask it on this post or should I open a new topic?
Thanks

Re: Rules for Joomshopping?

Hi Salvage,

Just for the sake of anyone else watching: yes you can assign different CSS (or JS) files to different K2 categories using Chameleon. There's a GUI for detecting a K2 category, then in the Succeed Action for that rule, you can specify a CSS file to be included.

But I guess you found that already smile

Best regards,
Stephen
