1. Detect Cookie/Session variable

This control succeeds if one of the cookies or session variables has been set. This allows you to detect a cookie or session variable that was set as a result of a previous SUCCEED or FAIL action. For example, you might have set Session variable A if you detected a certain landing page. Then you can create another rule that detects Session variable A, and sets a certain template when it is found. In this way, the user will see the new template for the rest of the session, after landing on that landing page at the start of the session.

Permanent cookies are set for a maximum period of 10 years, though this is reduced if people clear their cookies. Session variables last for the shorter time of: (i) the session length in Joomla (the counter is restarted every time the user requests a page), or (ii) until the user clears cookies or closes/quits the browser.

Options: Session variable A | Session variable B | Session variable C | Session variable D | Permanent cookie A | Permanent cookie B | Permanent cookie C | Permanent cookie D
