W3C Link Checker & Markup Validation throw 500 Internal Server Error

W3C link checker and Markup Validation no longer work on my site. Server logs show a PHP error that points to mod_metamod

[Wed Feb 10 14:57:05 2010] [error] [client 128.30.52.71] PHP Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/tangobeat/public_html/modules/mod_metamod/helper.php(523) : eval()'d code on line 1

Also when opening MetaMod module, the following code displays at the top of the page. Don't know if it's related.

What do you make of this? Using Joomla 1.5.15, PHP 5.2.10, MetaMod 2.2c

Hi Keith,

that error points to an error in the PHP you have in the PHP box (...eval()'d code...)

Given that it has found a stray "<" in line 1, I wonder if you accidentally put <?php on to the 1st line? If so, you don't need that. Just start writing PHP code directly.

If you're stuck, post your PHP code on here and I'll take a look.
